Mexico Conducts Drill at 1st Nuclear Reactor
From Associated Press
VERACRUZ, Mexico —
A simulated emergency that included a partial evacuation has been carried out at Mexico’s first nuclear plant, the official news agency Notimex reported Saturday.
The Friday drill was part of a licensing process that officials hope will led to full operations of the controversial Laguna Verde plant this summer.
The first of two U.S.-made reactor units at Laguna Verde went on line in April and has been operating at about 20% capacity.
