Assistant Drexel Trader Denied New Trial: A federal judge rejected a request for a new trial for Lisa Jones, 26, a Drexel Burnham Lambert assistant trader in Beverly Hills who was convicted in March of lying to a grand jury investigating Drexel. Jones’ new attorney, Daniel H. Bookin of San Francisco, had claimed that her original lawyer had a conflict of interest because he also worked for Drexel. But U.S. District Judge Leonard B. Sand rejected the argument and also said Jones showed “an apparent inability to tell the truth” when she took the stand during her perjury trial. She is due to be sentenced on June 28.
