A woman’s body found Sunday in eastern Arkansas has been identified as that of Joel Tillis, a former basketball player at Northeast Louisiana. Tillis, 24, was reported missing May 19 by her boyfriend, Ivrin Bolden Jr.
The badly decomposed body, identified through dental records, was found in a wooded area around Blackfish Lake, about 40 miles west of Memphis, Tenn. Tillis and Bolden lived together in Memphis until her disappearance.
The body was wrapped in sheets and a preliminary coroner’s report shows the woman was dead two to three weeks.
Bolden was acquitted last year in the murder of Brenda Spicer, Tillis’ best friend and also a former Northeast Louisiana basketball player. Spicer’s body was found in a campus garbage bin in March, 1987.
