A mother who has been in jail for 22 months should remain there until she reveals her daughter’s whereabouts, a District of Columbia judge ruled. Dr. Elizabeth Morgan, a prominent Washington plastic surgeon, was jailed after refusing to produce her daughter, Hilary, for court-ordered visits with Eric Foretich, her ex-husband and the girl’s father. Morgan has alleged that Foretich sexually abused Hilary; Foretich denies it. Judge Herbert Dixon made his ruling after an appeals court directed him to review his 1988 decision to keep Morgan in jail.
