WORLD : 19 Drug Dealers Executed in Iran

NICOSIA, Cyprus —
Iran hanged 19 drug dealers today, including three women, bringing to 647 the number of drug traffickers it has executed this year.
Tehran Radio said the condemned were convicted of handling a total of 1,600 pounds of drugs. They went to the gallows in six cities. Iran hangs most convicted drug traffickers in public, with huge crowds watching, although executions of women are carried out in prisons.
