The Environmental Protection Agency levied fines of more than $1.65 million against dozens of companies because they failed to report toxic chemical releases, the agency said. The latest enforcement action brought to nearly $4 million the fines sought by the EPA from 85 companies who failed to report chemical releases under a citizens’ right-to-know law that went into effect last year. The latest actions taken against companies in 20 states included three separate fines against Diceon Electronics of Chatsworth and Irvine, totaling $262,000. The only other firm facing a penalty of more than $100,000 was International Extrusion Corp. of Waxahachie, Tex., which was fined $101,000.
