The funeral today of former Soviet President and Foreign Minister Andrei A. Gromyko will be a private affair with only family friends and a few official guests allowed to attend, a Soviet spokesman said. Foreign Ministry spokesman Yuri Gremitskikh told reporters that members of the public and the foreign press will not be allowed inside the Novodyevichy Cemetery. Gromyko, 79, died Sunday after a heart operation the previous week. The Parliament decided to adjourn early today so that a delegation can attend the funeral.
