Long Beach-born and bred Bob Goen will be the new host of “Wheel of Fortune” when the daytime edition of the long-running game show moves from NBC to CBS on July 17. Goen previously worked for CBS as host of the game show, “Blackout.” Goen said Thursday he has no hesitations about taking over a show that has had other hosts in the past, including Pat Sajak (who continues to run the syndicated night-time version of “Wheel” as well as his talk show). “We’re going to a new network, the show will have a new look and it’s going to have an identity all its own,” he explained. Goen was in a local editing room Thursday morning, finishing work on another kind of “wheels”--a documentary on an annual antique auto rally that he’s been tracking across the country for the last two weeks. It will air Saturday on ESPN.
