Ex-E. German Athlete Claims Forced Doping

VIENNA — A former East German world record holder in swimming has claimed that by age 18 her health was ruined by sports doping in East Germany, a newspaper said today.
“They squeezed everything out of me, and then they dropped me,” Christine Knacke said in the interview, speaking of the East German sports officials.
Knacke, now married and living in Austria, made the allegations in interviews on Sunday and today with the Austrian newspaper Kronen Zeitung.
