Comarco Inc. has set its sights on two large Navy awards that could provide a big boost for the Anaheim defense contractor.

Comarco is bidding on a contract to provide engineering services to the Navy’s Pacific Missile Test Center in Oxnard. The contract is potentially worth more than $100 million over several years, according to Don M. Bailey, vice president of corporate development.

The Navy is expected to award the Oxnard contract by the end of the year.

Comarco also hopes to bid on a contract with the Navy Fleet Analysis Center in Corona that is worth about $130 million over several years.

The Corona job was recently awarded to another contractor, but that award has been protested by the losing bidder, and the protest has been upheld by the General Accounting Office, Bailey said. Comarco did not bid on the original contract but has said that it will seek the job if the contract is put up for a new bid.

If Comarco succeeds in winning either of the contracts, it would mean an additional $20 million to $30 million in annual revenue, Bailey said. The company would also add between 500 to 1,000 jobs to its current work force of 1,500 people.

“We’re a strong contender for both situations,” Bailey said.

Comarco earned $6.1 million on revenue of $89 million in the year ended Jan. 31.
