Redondo Beach Council Raises Its Pay

The Redondo Beach City Council has voted 3 to 1 in favor of a 5% raise for itself and the mayor, raising annual salaries to $6,945.60, or $578.80 per month. Under state law, a 5% increase is the maximum that elected officials can increase their own salaries in a calendar year.
Councilman Steven Colin cast the dissenting vote Tuesday against the raise for the five-member council. Colin said council members shouldn’t “get paid anything.” Councilwoman Barbara Doerr, who has voted against raises in the past, was not at the meeting.
