Venice : Young Journalist Honored

Joy Shioshita, a recent graduate of Venice High School, has been awarded the annual Clive Hoffman Media Scholarship for her outstanding school achievement and potential in the field of journalism.

An aspiring print journalist, Shioshita plans to attend the UC Berkeley this fall and major in English or sociology.

Shioshita was editor in chief of the Venice High School newspaper and of L.A. Youth, a citywide newspaper written and edited by teen-age journalists. She also was bureau chief and reporter for the affiliated Youth News Service, based in Washington.

The four-year, $5,000 scholarship is provided by Clive and Carol Hoffman and co-sponsored by the Greater Los Angeles Press Club.
