Highlight
Tony battled air sickness Thursday as he endured a grueling five-hour, 1,000-mile flight between the far eastern Soviet port cities of Magadan and Anadyr. He is now two short trips away from Nome, Alaska, where he will re-enter the United States Friday afternoon after crossing the international date line. Anadyr was one of the bleaker cities on Tony’s 13-city Soviet itinerary, situated about 100 miles south of the Arctic Circle in a frigid wasteland of tundra and rocky outcrop.
