It wasn’t like 3,000 rock fans lining up for Springsteen tickets or hundreds of movie nuts camping out overnight to see the opening of “Batman,” but the Orange County Performing Arts Center had its biggest ticket-sales day ever Sunday, when 250 ballet lovers stood in line when individual-performance tickets went on sale for the Kirov Ballet’s only Southern California appearances, Aug. 18 to 27.

People began lining up at 6:30 a.m. at the Costa Mesa facility and spent more than $130,000 on Kirov tickets, a Center spokesman said.

The Kirov will dance Petipa’s “The Sleeping Beauty,” Aug. 18 to 20; a recent reconstruction of Petipa’s “Le Corsaire,” Aug. 22 to 24, and a program of mixed repertory, including Fokine’s “Chopiniana” (also known as “Les Sylphides”), Aug. 25 to 27.
