Former television talk show host Jack Paar has been released from New York Hospital in good condition after suffering a heart attack two weeks ago, and credits a medical book with helping save his life. Paar, 71, said he tried to ignore the chest pains he felt when he woke up at 3:30 a.m. on July 4, but remembered the description of heart-attack symptoms in a medical book he had just read. “I realized I was having the symptoms and I knew I had to get to a hospital right away.” He was taken to a hospital in Greenwich, Conn., and later transferred by a helicopter ambulance to New York Hospital’s Coronary Care Unit.
