AIDS patients and their physicians can now receive up-to-date information about all human studies of AIDS drugs and vaccines, both federally and privately sponsored, and who is eligible for them by dialing a special toll-free telephone number, the Department of Health and Human Services announced. Information is available by calling 1-800-TRIALS-A. “The data bank will provide the answers to important basic questions and tell individuals where to get further details,” said Health and Human Services Secretary Louis W. Sullivan. The special line, which will be administered by the federal Centers for Disease Control, was mandated by legislation approved by Congress last fall.
