Comsat Sued Over Pricing: Pan American Satellite of Greenwich, Conn., filed a $1.5-billion antitrust lawsuit against Comsat Corp., claiming that the congressionally created company has fixed prices and blocked competition for international satellite communications services. Communications Satellite Corp. (Comsat) sells access to Intelsat, the 117-nation consortium of satellite telecommunications users, to U.S. firms. The suit, filed in U.S. District Court in Manhattan, seeks $500 million in damages and a permanent injunction barring Comsat from engaging in alleged illegal activities. A Comsat spokesman said the PAS suit “has absolutely no merit.”
