A federal appeals judge today blocked the release of Saudi Arabian arms dealer Adnan Khashoggi from prison on $10-million bail while the court reviews the conditions under which his bail was set.

Judge Lawrence W. Pierce of the U.S. 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals agreed to a request by federal prosecutors to stay Tuesday’s bail decision by U.S. District Judge John Keenan in Manhattan.

Keenan ruled that Khashoggi must post a $10-million bond and wear an electronic monitoring bracelet to get out of jail.

Khashoggi, who had been a fugitive until his arrest in Switzerland on April 18, is charged with helping Ferdinand and Imelda Marcos in the alleged plunder of the Philippine treasury. He has been in jail since his extradition to New York last Wednesday.
