A federal appeals court temporarily granted a government request that financier Adnan Khashoggi remain in jail without bail in New York. At the same time, Khashoggi, who is awaiting trial on charges of helping Ferdinand and Imelda Marcos hide assets they allegedly plundered from the Philippines, filed a personal financial statement showing a net worth of almost $54 million. The accounting showed assets of $141.8 million and liabilities of $88 million. However, prosecutors seeking to prevent him from posting $10 million in bail argued that the disclosure statement is “unverified” and “woefully inadequate.”
