THE SIDELINES : Brazil Beats U.S. in Youth Baseball

The United States was beaten 13 to 1 by Brazil today in the inaugural World Youth Baseball Championship.

Brazil scored nine runs in the first inning on six walks and four hits en route to handing the U.S. team its first loss in two games in the eight-nation round-robin tournament for players ages 13 to 15.

Venezuela remained the only unbeaten team, defeating Canada 11 to 4 for its second victory.
