Judge, 2 Bodyguards Slain in Colombia
Men spraying gunfire from a car killed a judge and two bodyguards as they drove to her home at lunchtime Friday in Medellin, police said.
The gunmen opened fire half a block from Judge Maria Elena Diaz Perez’s home, a police spokeswoman said. A third bodyguard in her car was wounded. Medellin is considered the center of Colombia’s cocaine trafficking.
Diaz specialized in cases involving political violence of the extreme left and right.
Radio reports said she was probing a series of massacres of banana workers last year in the Uraba region bordering Panama.
