Christer Pettersson, convicted of killing Swedish Prime Minister Olof Palme and sentenced to life in prison, asked an appeals court to overturn the judgment. President Birgitta Blom of the Court of Appeals said the case could be heard as early as Sept. 7. The basis of the appeal was not announced, and details were not expected to be made public until official documents reach the appellate court later this week. Palme was shot to death Feb. 28, 1986. Pettersson was arrested last December and convicted after a five-week trial.
