ABC News has named Dorrance Smith the new executive producer of “Nightline,” while CBS has appointed Rod Perth, a 23-year CBS veteran, vice president of late-night programs, including “The Pat Sajak Show.” Smith, former executive producer of ABC’s “This Week With David Brinkley,” succeeds Rick Kaplan, who left “Nightline” in May to produce “PrimeTime Live,” ABC’s new Thursday night news series co-anchored by Sam Donaldson and Diane Sawyer.
