Actor Ted Danson stepped out from behind the “Cheers” bar during the weekend to send a cheer for the environment at the National Governors Assn. convention in Chicago. Danson, chairman of the American Ocean Campaign, joined the governors of six states in pushing for a resolution to protect beaches and waterways from pollution. “Our society is turning (coastlines) into one large chemistry experiment,” Danson said. “This resolution comes from before all of the governors here and I’m here to let them know that the people . . . are ready for some real action.”
