Seattle Youth, 15, Surrenders as Suspect in Killing of His Mother

A 15-year-old Seattle youth called Garden Grove police from a telephone booth Wednesday evening to surrender as a suspect in the killing of his mother, authorities said.

The youth, whose name was being withheld because of his age, left Seattle after the woman was found dead on July 28, Garden Grove Police Lt. John Wood said.

Seattle police detectives had notified Garden Grove police that the youth might be in the area, Woods said.

According to Woods, the youth called about 8:15 p.m. from a pay telephone at Bolsa Grande High School. “He just said he was wanted for murder,” Woods said. Officers took him into custody at the high school. He was being held at Orange County Juvenile Hall in Orange.

Seattle homicide detectives, contacted late Wednesday night, said they could provide no immediate information on the case.
