First Lexus Cars Shipped: The first 1,000 Lexus LS 400 luxury sedans, Toyota’s first V-8 four-door luxury sedan, have been shipped to dealers. The model is scheduled for introduction Sept. 1. The LS 400 has 250 horsepower, a top speed of 150 m.p.h. and a base price of $35,000. It is being priced for positioning between American and European luxury cars. With options, LS 400s are expected to cost about $38,000. That was the price announced for Nissan Motor Corp.’s V-8-powered Infiniti Q45 sedan, slated to appear in showrooms Nov. 8. Lexus also will offer a 156-horsepower, V-6-powered four-door sedan called the ES 250 with a base price of $21,050.
