HAMBURG, West Germany — A piano that once belonged to Adolf Hitler and a guillotine from the French Revolution were stolen from a Hamburg warehouse by thieves who used a forklift, police said today.
The guillotine and piano were scheduled to be auctioned Sept. 15. They were insured for $52,000 each, police said.
Police said the thieves, operating over the weekend, used the forklift to carry the two items to a truck.
Hitler received the piano as a gift for his 50th birthday from the German town of Warnsdorf.
