‘Credential Teachers?’

As a third-year teacher in the Los Angeles Unified School District, I agree with the ideas presented in your editorial. A comprehensive evaluation of the ability of teachers, using uniform variables that cut across classroom differences, will serve to give recognition to those teachers who deserve it and help motivate those who aspire to be better.

These standards of excellence will help legitimize teaching as a profession and add more stability to individual schools. It’s an idea whose time has come.
