Afghan rebels fired rockets at the military airfield at Kabul, the capital, and independent military sources said nine rockets hit the military section of the airport, causing some damage. Since Thursday, the Western-backed rebels appear to have shifted their fire away from civilian residential areas to concentrate on the airport, one of Kabul’s main military targets. Soviet transport planes make daily flights into the capital carrying arms and military equipment as well as food and other supplies.
