Lawyers’ Probate Fees

In Real Estate Q&A; (July 23) Robert J. Bruss states that “In most states, attorneys can charge statutory fees of 6% to 22% of” probate estates.

I don’t know to which state Bruss was referring, but it certainly could not be California, where statutory fees range from 4% of the first $15,000 to 1% over $1 million.
