FDA Revokes Drug Approvals: The Food and Drug Administration confirmed that it had revoked recent drug approvals granted to two generic drug makers linked to an agency payoff scandal. The approvals were removed because they had been “inadvertently granted as a result of incomplete information,” FDA Commissioner Frank A. Young said in a confidential memo obtained by Reuters news service. The approvals had been given to Par Pharmaceutical Inc. of Spring Valley, N.Y., and American Therapeutics Inc. of Bohemia, N.Y., for generic versions of a muscle relaxant sold by Johnson & Johnson under the name Parafon Forte.
