Five candidates, including two incumbents, have filed to run in November for two open seats on the Compton College Board of Trustees.

Incumbent LeGrand H. Clegg, who is Compton’s assistant city attorney, is in his third term on the five-member board. He represents Area 1, which encompasses most of Compton and some unincorporated regions around the city.

One of Clegg’s challengers is another lawyer, Frank E. Bazadier of Compton, who ran unsuccessfully last spring for city attorney. The other challenger is Carroll (Cal) White of Compton, a logistics engineering specialist at Rockwell International in Downey.

In Area 2, which takes in part of Carson and the large unincorporated area of Willowbrook north of Compton, incumbent James E. Carter is seeking a second term. Carter, who is retired, lives in Willowbrook.

He is being challenged by Carson resident Carl E. Robinson Sr., who lost to Carter by two votes four years ago. Robinson, a postal worker, is a parks and recreation commissioner in Carson.
