Teacher Sentenced to 3 Years’ Probation
A former elementary schoolteacher who admitted he touched the genital areas of a clothed student attending his remedial reading course was sentenced Wednesday to three years’ probation.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge John Reid imposed the sentence on Allen Gross, 43, of Pomona, who pleaded guilty to a single felony count of child endangerment June 21.
As part of a plea bargain with the district attorney’s office, Gross turned in his teaching credential and agreed to undergo psychiatric counseling.
Gross also agreed not to have any contact with children unless supervised by another adult.
Four misdemeanor child molestation charges and one felony lewd conduct charge were dismissed against Gross as part of the plea bargain.
Gross, a former teacher at Malabar Elementary School in East Los Angeles, was arrested May 2 on suspicion of molesting five boys ages 9 and 10 who were attending his special education remedial reading courses.
