China Delays Payments to Japanese: China has delayed payment of interest and principal on some loans from Japanese banks, Nihon Keizai Shimbun, a leading financial newspaper said. The newspaper said the loans were used primarily to finance hotels and other projects related to tourism. especially in the southern part of China. Peking blamed high inflation and the drying up of tourism revenues for the delay, it said.
