The Odyssey’s Heroes

Share

Please allow me to add a note to Janice Arkatov’s Aug. 13 piece on the Odyssey Theatre--i.e., the facts concerning the City of L.A.’s rescue as the Odyssey lost its building of 16 years.

Councilman Zev Yaroslavsky (and his aide, Ginny Kruger), did valiantly lead this effort, as mentioned, but I would be remiss not to add Mayor Tom Bradley to our hero list. The mayor and his cultural affairs coordinator, Valerie Fields, never hesitated to provide the time and personal touch necessary to the search and readying of a temporary site.

Additionally, Marvin Braude, in whose district we have happily operated for 16 of our 20 years, co-sponsored with Mr. Yaroslavsky the council motion that furnished us with the building at 2055 S. Sepulveda.
