Three jailed left-wing activists are near death in a Moroccan hospital after a hunger strike lasting 75 days, a human rights group said.

The three men began fasting June 17 to emphasize demands for status as political prisoners. A fourth hunger striker died 12 days ago.

The men, who belong to the outlawed March 23rd Movement, named for bloody riots in Casablanca in 1965, were each jailed for eight years for their role in riots in Casablanca in 1984 and for reactivating a banned political party.
