Steel Prices Hit 2-Year Low: Due to reduced demand, steel prices have fallen to their lowest level in nearly two years, while operating rates at U.S. steel mills stood at 76% at the end of August, down from 89.5% in the same period last year. Prices for flat-rolled steel averaged $375 a ton in August, according to Philadelphia economic forecasting firm the AUS Group.
