Sikh radicals randomly shot pedestrians in a village in northern Punjab, killing eight people and wounding eight others in an eruption of political violence, the Press Trust of India said. About 15 radicals armed with assault rifles drove in two cars through Mandi Gobindarh village, 130 miles northwest of New Delhi, shooting at any human target, the news agency said. The radicals killed six people and wounded 10 others, two of whom later died. Police were quoted as saying the radicals escaped and later abandoned the two vehicles.
