Argentine to Aid Search for Middle East Peace

BELGRADE, Yugoslavia —
Argentine President Carlos Saul Menem is to visit the Middle East before the end of the year in an attempt to help bring peace to the region and particularly to Lebanon, Argentine officials said Tuesday.
They said that Menem, whose parents came from Syria, has discussed his plans with leaders of Jordan, the Palestine Liberation Organization, Saudi Arabia, Syria and the United Arab Emirates while attending the Nonaligned Movement’s summit here in Belgrade.
