From Times staff and wire service reports
BOGOTA, Colombia —
The first extradition to the United States of an alleged Colombian drug trafficker could take place within days, a presidential spokesman said today.
Spokesman Carlos Osorio said the extradition of Eduardo Martinez Romero, who has been described as a treasurer of the feared Medellin drug cartel at war with the government, “could happen by Monday at the very latest.”
“We thought it was going to be yesterday,” Osorio said, suggesting that the decision had already been made to extradite Martinez Romero to Atlanta.
