Alfred S. Keller, 77, a veteran cinematographer and one of the so-called “Capra Crew” who filmed most of the legendary Frank Capra productions. He began in film while still a student at UCLA and over the years became a specialist in Westerns, moving eventually from Capra to become director of photography at the old Republic and RKO Radio studios. He also photographed documentaries for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and NBC-TV and segments of the Jackie Gleason and Milton Berle television series. An inventor as well as a photographer, he founded Western Electromotive Inc., an aerospace oriented distributor of electro-mechanical products. For many years he was executive director of the American Society of Cinematographers and most recently secretary of ASC’s Honor Society.
