Italy Indicts 44 in Drug-Smuggling Ring

REGGIO CALABRIA, Italy — Forty-four people, including a Catholic priest, have been indicted for alleged involvement in an Italian-American drug-smuggling ring financed by kidnapings and art thefts.
Enzo Macri, senior Italian investigating magistrate, said in his indictment Thursday that the ring was based in Reggio Calabria.
Antonino Saraceno, the alleged boss of the Calabrian Mafia, and Lorenzo Zorza, a Catholic priest living in New York, were among those indicted.
