Construction has started on Haseko-Wilson Associates’ Promontory Estates, a $70-million community at MountainGate Country Club, above Brentwood at 12440 Promontory Road.

The first 21 luxury, single-family homes in Phase 1 are targeted for completion next March and will be priced from $1,335,000 to $1,675,000.

Amenities include membership in the 27-hole championship golf course at MountainGate Country Club and 17 night-lighted courts at MountainGate Tennis Club.

The homes will have two and three stories with mountain and city views and are offered in four floor plans ranging from 4,293 to 5,531 square feet.

Each plan features four bedrooms with fireplaces, several large decks, skylights, a library/den, three-car garage and up to 5 1/2 bathrooms.

Architecture and site planning are by Rados-Botich International Corp. in San Pedro.

Fontana Homes

The Lusk Co. has announced plans for a $45.6-million single-family residential project on 35.1 acres within Fontana’s master-planned community of The Village of Heritage.

Located near the intersection of West Lincoln Loop Road and East Constitution Way, the Autumn Glen project will consist of 228 move-up homes designed for growing families, with floor plans ranging from 1,753 to 2,086 square feet.

Autumn Glen is sited in an open-country setting within the 1,200-acre community of The Village of Heritage and will be surrounded by planned amenities such as schools and shopping and recreational facilities.

An October sales start is scheduled.

Gated Community

Grading is under way for the first 22 of 65 luxury homes to be built in Rancho Mirage by Heck Enterprises Inc. in the gated community of Cypress Estates, east of Da Vall Drive between Mission Hills and Tamarisk country clubs.

The homes will range in size from 2,100 to 3,300 square feet and are priced from $295,000 to $425,000.

The project offers four plans with two bedrooms and a den, or three bedrooms and den. Lots measure from 10,000 to 17,000 square feet and optional pools and spas are available.

Quartz Hill Homes

Golden State Investments has announced the acquisition of 74 acres in the Quartz Hill area of Palmdale at 70th Street West and Avenue M-8.

With an opening planned for early next year, the site will contain three homes per acre, with floor plans ranging from 1,945 to 2,800 square feet, at a starting price of $225,000.

The architectural team of John Siebel & Associates, with interiors by Carole Eichen, has been assigned to the project.

Laguna Heights Project

Akins Development Co. of Newport Beach has acquired 11.8 acres within Shea Homes’ residential community of Laguna Heights in Laguna Niguel.

The company’s $15-million project, a joint venture with Glenfed Development Corp., will consist of 47 single-family homes. First move-ins are planned to begin in winter, 1990.

Construction Slated

The real estate development firm R. B. McComic Inc., as general partner of 555 Rancho Palo Verde, has purchased 750 acres of Alpine’s largest community, Rancho Palo Verde, from Gibraltar Savings & Loan for an estimated $4.4 million.

Plans for the lake-front area include development of large ranch-style homes similar to McComic’s Bridlewood communities in Poway and Ventura. Construction on the project will begin later this year.

Glendale Lots Bought

The Hoffman Co. Land Brokers has completed a $27-million transaction involving 131 lots in the Rancho San Rafael planned community in Glendale.

The parcel was purchased by Calprop Corp. of Marina del Rey from master developer Homes by Polygon of Laguna Hills. The property is located just west of the Chevy Chase Country Club.

In addition to Calprop Corp., Custom Living Homes & Communities, Brock Homes and Homes by Polygon are also building at Rancho Rafael. Homes range from townhouses to large single-family houses, with prices ranging from $400,000 to $800,000.

Cathedral City Homes

Chartwell at Century Park, a master-planned community of 160 homes on 100 acres, is under construction on Da Vall Road and McCallum Way in Cathedral City.

Phase 1, with 21 single-family homes ranging in size from 1,771 to 2,474 square feet and priced from $132,900 to $179,900, are targeted for occupancy in late October.

Buyers will have the option of one or two stories and a choice of 12 architectural styles. Homes will have three to four bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths and two-car garages.

The project is a development of Michael Marix of Chartwell Associates and was designed by Frank Gonsales.

Townhouses Planned

Barratt San Diego has purchased 13 acres in San Marcos, south of Nob Hill and west of Nordahl Road, from the Shadle Co. for $2.75 million.

Projected for the site is a 112-unit townhouse community in a Mediterranean architectural style. Model opening and sales are expected early next spring.
