A Sri Lankan television announcer was among 38 people killed in 24 hours of political violence in the island nation, military officials said. Sagarika Gomase, 32, an announcer for the state-run broadcasting system, was abducted Wednesday night from her parents’ home in Colombo. Her nude body, covered with stab wounds, was found by joggers the next morning on a beach 14 miles away. Police said she may have been killed by radicals for defying their demands to stop working for the state-run broadcasting system.
