Pasadena : Water Rates to Increase
Water rates will rise slightly for all users under a rate increase given the Pasadena Water and Power Department by the Board of Directors.
The 6.3% increase is expected to raise the average residential water bill from $12.28 to $13.05 a month.
The new rates will enable the Water and Power Department to add $839,000 to its projected revenues of $14.3 million and avoid what happened in 1987 and 1988, when operating costs exceeded income.
The increase, almost across the board among users, replaces a complicated system, opposed by many homeowners, that would have forced users of large amounts of water to pay considerably more than users of small amounts.
