West Covina : Doctors to Buy Hospital
A group of San Gabriel Valley doctors will purchase West Covina Hospital for about $6.5 million from Pasadena-based Paracelsus Healthcare Corp., hospital officials have announced.
Services at the 60-bed facility will continue without interruption, and a women’s clinic may eventually be added, said Halden Shane, board president of Doctors Hospital of West Covina Inc.
The group of 20 West Covina-based medical specialists first approached Paracelsus last summer, and negotiations started in March, said Shane, a podiatrist.
The sale is expected to be concluded by the end of October, upon approval and licensing by the state Department of Health. Paracelsus operates 20 hospitals in the United States and 42 in Europe.
