Blues Festival Told to Find New Stage

The Long Beach Blues Festival is 10 years old and going strong--so strong, in fact, that it is outgrowing its location on the athletic fields at Cal State Long Beach. The crowd of 7,000 at last weekend’s event, although generally orderly, put a strain on the university’s security and maintenance staffs and interfered with physical education classes, administrators said.
So the university has decided to end its role as festival host and asked concert organizers to find another place by next year.
This year’s event drew music lovers of all ages and backgrounds.
The festival is a major fund-raising event for its sponsor, campus radio station KLON-FM.
