Catholics, Jews

Catholic and Jewish women in the Los Angeles area have met annually for 13 years at a conference which provides the opportunity to learn about each other’s religious traditions and beliefs. This conference encourages women of divergent views to express their ideas and feelings in open and frank discussions.
The Steering Committee of the Catholic-Jewish Women’s Conference has discussed the problem of the convent at Auschwitz. It is our position that the Catholic Church should honor the agreement arrived at in 1987 between representatives of the Jewish community and four Catholic cardinals.
We join Archbishop Roger Mahony and the many Catholics and Jews who have condemned the anti-Semitic remarks of Cardinal Jozef Glemp.
