NATION : Hillside Stangler Weds Louisianian
Kenneth Bianchi, convicted of murder in Washington state and in Southern California’s Hillside Strangler serial slayings, has married a Louisiana woman, prison officials said today.
Bianchi, 38, and Shirlee J. Book, 36, of Monterey, La., were married in a 30-minute ceremony in the Washington State Penitentiary chapel Thursday, said spokesman Richard Bauer. The couple, who have corresponded by mail and telephone since 1986, met face-to-face for the first time Wednesday, Bauer said. Bianchi is serving two life sentences for the slayings of two Bellingham women in January, 1979.
