Racial Harmony in View Park

Share

I had to laugh at Karen Grigsby Bates’ Sept. 18 View article, “View Park: A Case Study in Racial Ironies.” The story is the reverse of what happened in that area 25 years ago.

The majority of whites who lived in View Park were just as concerned about the blacks who were moving in as the blacks are today by the whites coming in.

Just about every house that is over 25 years old in View Park was built by a white middle-class family. The black families who moved in were also middle-class people who had the same values. It is a lovely area and I see no reason why blacks and whites, who want the same things in life, cannot share View Park.
